Suresh Raina
is one of India’s talents who hasn’t got the best of the recognition which
he
actually deserved. Whether, it was the “silent innings” in the WC 2011 at
Mohali or a ton in Calypso islands in 2010.
He is one of
the two batsmen from India to score century in all formats of cricket. He was
the second youngest captain of the Indian Cricket team at the early age of 23
and the twelfth youngest player to captain aside the world cricket team. He was
the twelfth Indian player to score test century on debut. He is the only Indian
to score centuries in both T20I and ODI World Cup.
Raina is reckoned
more as a responsible batsman in the shorter formats. In fact his innings in
the quarter final against Australia in 2011 WC and then in the semi-finals
against Pakistan proved that he had the ability to deliver when the other
batsmen face a hard time.
Raina has
been an impressive player right from the beginning of his game. He being a part
of the u-19 team for England tour aging just 15 showed it all.
Continuing
this, he his ODI debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka at the age of 19.
However, his Test debut came only five years later, in 2010, against the same
opposition. He scored a hundred on his Test debut. He was a part of the Indian
squad that won the 2011 World Cup.
